Healthy Start – Healthier Beginnings
Healthy Start and Healthier Beginnings are home-visitation programs designed to help Pre-natal, First-time and Teen Parents give their children a Healthier Beginning. Through weekly home-visits, the Stephens Center staff members provide emotional support and help parents learn practical skills to cope with the new job of parenting. Healthy Start and Healthier Beginnings emphasize a nurturing relationship between parent and child, developmental activities and screenings, immunizations, well-child check-ups, and school readiness. GKI evidenced based ciriculum is utilized and all staff is highly trained. The Stephens Center’s Healthy Start and Healthier Beginnings programs are research-based and proven effective. The center has been accredited since 2011 through Healthy Families America, a program of Prevent Child Abuse America. The Stephens Center provides Healthy Start in Macon, Putnam, and White Counties and Healthy Beginnings in Cumberland and Dekalb Counties.
